D.A. DROPS CHARGES AGAINST ST. TAMMANY PARISH JUDGE

St. Tammany Parish Grand Jury indicted Judge Patricia Hedges on a variety of charges. The Grand Jury accused Judge Hedges of committing bribery, malfeasance of office and extortion. However, four months later, an ad-hoc district attorney was convinced Judge Hedges committed no crime and declined to pursue the false charges. Likewise, prosecutor dropped charges against the four individuals accused of conspiring with Judge Hedges.

Further, as a result of her acquittal, the Louisiana Legislature reimbursed Judge Hedges for the $102,900 of legal fees attributable to her defense against the false charges.
